The WisGate Connect for mioty® includes the Miromico miro EdgeCard. mioty is a low-power, wide-area network (LPWAN) protocol that provides one of the most robust and efficient IoT connectivity solutions on the market. It supports a data rate of 512 bps and has a range of up to 20 km.
mioty is based on the patented Telegram Splitting technology developed by Fraunhofer IIS. This technology divides a message into multiple sub-packets and transmits them at different times and frequencies with low time on air (ToA) reducing the chance of interference by other networks. This allows for low Packet Error Rates (PER) and high network capacity.
Note: At the moment we only offer the 868MHz mioty band. If you need a different band, please send your request to inquiry@rakwireless.com .
Raspberry Pi CM4 Empower mioty Gateway
The WisGate Connect is built on the Raspberry Pi CM4. In addition to mioty support, the device includes an optional LoRaWAN module, enabling a true Dual Protocol gateway. LoRaWAN support is powered by the latest SX1303 LoRa core, providing:
- Improved sensitivity
- Enhanced performance
The Hybrid LoRaWAN and mioty Gateway supports multi-backhaul options, including:
- Ethernet
- Wi-Fi
- Cellular connectivity (optional)
The enclosure design for mioty Gateway allows the antennas to extend outside for better performance. The gateway comes flashed with the latest RAKPiOS with a convenient utility to configure the Miromico card.

FAQs
Does the mioty Gateway based on WisGate Connect support LTE?
Yes, the mioty Gateway based on WisGate Connect supports LTE as an optional backhaul connectivity option. It also includes Ethernet and Wi-Fi in WisGate Connect mioty Gateway.
What is the difference between mioty and LoRaWAN?
mioty and LoRaWAN are both LPWAN (Low-Power, Wide-Area Network) protocols, but they have distinct differences:
mioty uses Telegram Splitting technology, which splits messages into sub-packets and transmits them over multiple frequencies and times. This reduces interference and ensures robust communication in dense environments. LoRa uses chirp spread spectrum modulation, which is effective for long-range communication but may face more interference in dense networks.
